A Choice Tasmanian Oaks victory
The magnificent legacy of the Redoute’s Choice continues to roll through Australian racing.
He heads the Australian Broodmare Sires’ table and has two sons among the top 10 sires.
His grandson heads the Second Season Sires’ list, and he has a son and six grandsons staking their claims on the First Season Sires’ premiership.
However, almost four years after his death, his presence as a sire is inevitably diminishing. He’s had only 61 Australian runners this season and that number will steadily fall.
But he’s not quite finished yet. His ultra-consistent 3YO daughter Soul Choice – from his 23-foal final crop – completed a Tasmanian stakes double after leading all the way in Sunday evening’s $150,000 Tasmanian Oaks 2100m LR.
🟡🔵⚪️ SOUL CHOICE is the toughest of them all with another gutsy effort from the front in today’s Listed Tasmanian Oaks 💪🏼 This superbly bred daughter of Redoute’s Choice doesn’t know how to run a bad race, congratulations to owner/breeder @PerfectSoulIRE 🍾 @ArrowfieldStud pic.twitter.com/CS11T47fr0

Raised at Arrowfield for her Canadian owner-breeder Charles Fipke and trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Soul Choice has come a long way in a short time.
She made her debut only two months ago, broke her maiden on 20 December, extended Dundeel’s talented son Dunkel first at Flemington and then in the Launceston Guineas LR, before winning the Strutt S. LR in Hobart nine days ago. That made her the 180th stakeswinner for Redoute’s Choice.
Stable representative Rebecca Shanks said, “It’s very exciting to get black-type for Mr Fipke and his breeding operation with this filly, and it’s onwards and upwards for her.” Soul Choice is nominated for the $1 million Australian Oaks G1 on 8 April.
The best of three winners out of Thislilsoulofmine (by Sadler’s Wells’ Grade 1-winning son Perfect Soul), Soul Choice descends from Best In Show, also the 4th dam of Redoute’s Choice.
Thislilsoulofmine has a 2YO colt by Real Steel and a yearling filly by I Am Invincible.
