40th Group 1 winner for Redoute’s Choice
Saturday 30 September 2023 will be long remembered at Arrowfield as one of the most exceptional days on the record of the great Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice.
Last September Rediener, born in the Spring after Redoute’s Choice’s death in March 2019, won his second start at Warwick Farm. Last Saturday he won the $1.5 million Epsom H. 1600m G1 for breeder Neil Werrett & co-owner Max Whitby and champion trainer Chris Waller.

Jockey Kathy O’Hara, celebrating her third Group 1 win, said, “Had a lovely run, it just panned out lovely for him and he produced the goods. He’s just a really nice horse and it’s only up from here I think for him. It’s not the ceiling for him so who knows.”
Rediener is nominated for the $10 million Golden Eagle on 4 November.

Rediener (ex Wiener) is a three-quarter brother to 4-time Champion Sire Snitzel, and joins the long list of outstanding performers – including Shinzo, Celebrity Queen & Miracles Of Life – by Redoute’s Choice or his sons and out of More Than Ready mares. All told, this cross has an 11.1% SW/Runners strike rate.
The Epsom victory was only part of Redoute’s Choice’s success over the weekend. He’s also the damsire of Ganbare (ATC Dulcify S. LR), the Hawke’s Bay Guineas G2 winner Lantern Way & runner-up Solidify, Listed placegetters Regal Power & Titan Blinders and the promising Mornington winner Foujita San.
And so, 23 years after Redoute’s Choice began his stud career at Arrowfield, he can be found in 16th spot on the Australian General Sires’ Premiership (which he headed in 2006, 2010 & 2014) and is taking aim at his 5th Australian Broodmare Sires’ title.
