2YO stakeswinner highlights damsire Danzero

On the same day that 3YO filly Pyrography underlined Danzero ‘s undiminished ability to leave good horses in his own right, 2YO filly Miss Upstart highlighted his growing record as a sire of broodmares.

Miss Upstart won yesterday’s Counties RC Counties Challenge S. 1100m LR, at Pukekohe in New Zealand, with a fine display of finishing speed, as she wound her way from the back of the field to overpower Precise and Brackenwood and score with something in hand. Her winning margin was 1.5 lengths, and her time was 1.04.64 – just half a second slower than Pyrography’s time on a similarly Good3 track at Rosehill.

The daughter of Snippetson (by Arrowfield’s former leading sire Snippets, who died in 2002) is the ninth individual stakeswinner from a Danzero mare, in this case Magic Star, a half-sister to multiple Group winner Make Mine Magic. Miss Upstart is raced by her Australian breeder Warren Pegg who purchased the pregnant Magic Star for $34,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
