2YO makes record price for Not A Single Doubt
The 2YO gelding from Spring Beauty set a new top price for progeny by Arrowfield sire Not A Single Doubt when he made $NZ230,000 on the opening day of New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2010 Ready to Run Sale at Karaka, Auckland.
The gelding was offered by Ascot Farm, and the successful bidder was Victorian trainer Lee Hope. The price was the second highest of the day’s selling.
Spring Beauty is a winning sister to G1 Wrap Around from the family of Arrowfield-bred champion 2YO filly Fashions Afield (by Not A Single Doubt’s champion sire Redoute’s Choice ). Jumbo Gold, Spring Beauty’s 5YO son by Flying Spur , has won four races in Hong Kong for owner Billy Chan Wing Kwong and trainer Caspar Fownes.
The previous highest price for a Not A Single Doubt was also achieved in New Zealand, at the 2010 NZ Premier Yearling Sale, where Kieran Moore paid $NZ170,000 for the Bahira filly offered by Westbury Stud.
With three crops of racing age, Not A Single Doubt is enjoying a splendid season, with a trio of Group winners in the past three months: Squamosa and Doubtful Jack in Australia, and Always Certain in Singapore. He’s also been represented by progressive 3YO winners Castlethorpe (South Africa), Exploitable Doubt, Roadtrain and Babelicious, consistent Hong Kong 4YO Tai Sing Yeh, and brilliant 2YO Karuta Queen.
Interestingly, the Spring Beauty gelding’s damsire Bletchingly also appears close up in the pedigrees of Squamosa and Not A Single Doubt’s Group-placed daughter My Girl Helen.
Currently fourth on the Australian 3rd Season Sires’ list, Not A Single Doubt is also third on the 2YO Sires’ table. He now has a total of 74 individual winners, including eleven stakes performers.
