29th same-day stakes double for Snitzel
The reinvigorated Reloaded and the ever-classy Exhilarates, both from Snitzel’s 2016 crop, gave the four-time Champion Sire his 29th same-day stakes double at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Reloaded backed up from his maiden stakes success a fortnight ago to deliver a strong win in the $150,000 BRC Lord Mayor’s Cup 1800m G3, defeating stablemate So You Win and giving their owners-in-common Peter Tighe, Francis & Christine Cook and Noel & Maria Greenhalgh a memorable quinella.

Trainer Chris Waller has a simple explanation for Reloaded’s burst of stakes- winning form: confidence.
“He has always shown he has had ability, he has run in Group 1 races, but confidence is just an amazing thing.
“Getting confidence back into horses is often a lot harder than what you think, but now he has found it we will keep pushing on with him and he might get over a bit further too.”
A $350,000 Magic Millions buy from Arrowfield for Guy Mulcaster & the Harras Syndicate, Reloaded has now earned $560,000. His likely next start will be in the $1.2 million weight-for-age Q22 (P.J. O’Shea Stakes) G2 over 2200 metres on 12 June.
His dam, VRC Oaks G1 winner Hollow Bullet (by Sunday Silence’s son Tayasu Tsuyoshi) has an unraced 2YO son Silent Bullet (by Maurice) in the Waterhouse & Bott stable, and her yearling filly by Maurice was bought for $200,000 by Ciaron Maher from Kulani Park at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. The mare’s 2020 foal is a filly by Pariah.
Godolphin’s lovely mare Exhilarates has never lacked confidence, but punters had little faith in her prospects when she lined up in the $150,000 BRC Helen Coughlan S. 1200m LR. She started at 16/1, despite her four previous stakes victories (three at 1200 metres), excellent second-up form and her fine record in Queensland, including success in the 2019 Magic Millions 2YO Classic RL.

That win takes Exhilarates’ career record to 6 wins, 8 placings & $2.3 million prizemoney from 22 starts and a Group 1 start in the Stradbroke on 12 June or the Tattersall’s Tiara on 26 June is on her agenda.
Exhilarates is one of only two living foals to date out of brilliant dual Group 1 winner Samaready (by More Than Ready), who was bought by Coolmore at the 2020 Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $1.8 million and duly delivered a Snitzel colt.
Snitzel has celebrated five stakes-double days in Australia this season, on 19 September (Taikomochi & Snitzkraft), 3 November (Exhilarates & Snickerdoodledandy), 27 February (Four Moves Ahead & Sword Of State),
6 March (Wild Ruler & Vulpine) and now 29 May. His 2020/21 achievements include 12 winners of 18 Group & Listed Races, $16.6 million global progeny earnings and 84 yearlings sold for an average $478,000.
Snitzel’s 9 lots at this week’s Magic Millions National Yearling Sale will be offered by Arrowfield, Baramul, Kitchwin Hills, Milburn Creek, Yarraman Park & Yulong.
