29 winners in 40 days for Not A Single Doubt

Twenty-nine winners in 40 days – that’s the terrific record leading sire Not A Single Doubt has compiled since New Year’s Day.

They include three city winners last Saturday,  one of them a new 2YO winner, Don’t Doubt Mamma (ex Coconut Mamma by Fantastic Light), successful at Morphettville for the Tony McEvoy stable.

She is Not A Single Doubt’s 7th individual juvenile winner in Australia this season and shores up his third position, splitting barnmates Snitzel and Beneteau, on that Sires’ list.

Don’t Doubt Mamma’s trainer Tony McEvoy was full of praise for her effort.

“She was caught wide of a high speed and was then left in front further out from home than I would have liked. At the 200-metre mark I thought she was vulnerable as it was her first run for a month. But she fought on well to score and will derive great benefit from that run.”

A full sister to Flemington stakeswinner Risen From Doubt, Don’t Doubt Mamma now heads to the SAJC Cinderella S. LR on 28 February.

McEvoy also quinella-ed the $250,000 MRC Inglis Premier (R) LR with Stoker and Manhattan Rain’s promising son Manhattan Blues, who mustered a strong late finish to run second, beaten 1.3 lengths. Stoker’s winning time of 56.28 was almost a class record.

3YO filly Marple Miss (ex Sunset Express by Success Express), a three-quarter sister to dual Group 1 winner Shamus Award, impressed when posting her fourth win from 7 starts at Rosehill for owner-breeders Bob & Sue Hannon and trainer Kris Lees (who celebrated six winners on the day).  Marple Miss ran the 1500 metres in a class record time of 1:30.27 which also reflected well on the runner-up Manoeuvring, also by Not A Single Doubt.

Just A Girl (ex Surprise Bid by General Nediym) completed Saturday’s winning trio with a first-up victory at Doomben for her Scone trainer Luke Griffith. The 5YO mare has won six of her 21 starts and paid double-figures to win this time, despite her excellent record when fresh. A return visit to Brisbane in a fortnight is likely for her.

On Sunday 3YO Jobiwood (ex Kurrajong Mist by Rivotious) gave his breeder, part-owner & Bluebloods publisher Andrew Reichard a very satisfying maiden win at Ballina, a month after his debut second at Ipswich. Jobiwood’s year-older full sister Elisaro has won her last two starts and has good prospects again on Wednesday at the Gold Coast.

Other interesting starters for Not A Single Doubt on Wednesday are Prime Thoroughbreds’ smart filly Atalanta Miss and Robbie Laing’s filly The Grey Flash in the $50,000 TTC Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

A little later on Wednesday evening, the Happy Valley card in Hong Kong includes four runners by Not A Single Doubt: Harbour Punk, Triumphant Jewel, Charity Joy & Victorius. Their sire has already had 7 winners of ten races in Hong Kong this season.

Not A Single Doubt’s results over the past six weeks feature the milestone of his 50th stakes performer, the Tony McEvoy-trained 3YO Affirmation, third to Java and Petrology in the MRC Manfred S. G3 on Australia Day. Bred by Bell View Park Stud, Affirmation is from Apocrypha (by Octagonal), a daughter of VRC Oaks G1 winner Tributes.

With such results on the board and continuing to build weekly, the sale-ring demand for Not A Single Doubt’s yearlings isn’t difficult to predict. His 15 Book 1 yearlings at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale averaged $136,000 and sold up to $280,000, while a colt and a filly each made $100,000 at this week’s Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney.

There are 13 Not A Single Doubt yearlings catalogued for next month’s Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale, among them a colt and a filly in the Arrowfield draft.
