Pariah blasts off with his first stakeswinner

The stud career of Pariah powered up at Eagle Farm on Saturday when his 2YO son Swiss Exile scored a defiant, all-the-way victory in the $250,000 Spirit of Boom Classic 1200m G2.

Pariah, himself a brilliant Group-winning juvenile, is the 34th stakes-siring son of Redoute’s Choice and the third Australian first-season sire to post a stakeswinner in 2021/22.

Instructed by trainer Annabel Neasham  to be firm early, jockey Sam Clipperton explained how the colt ended up in front.

“He jumped really well, and I knew I was going to lead in the first four strides…I was able to find a lovely rhythm in front, and he enjoyed it. He had his ears pricked, but I was mindful that it is a long straight here at Eagle Farm.

“I was trying to hold him together as best I could but still holding his revs. I think he’ll get seven furlongs, no dramas. Maybe even a mile…that was a confidence-boosting win today and now he can go on with it.”

Going on with it is clearly the stable’s plan for the colt, nominated for both the $1 million BRC Sires’ Produce S. G2 on 28 May and the $1 million J.J. Atkins G1 on 11 June.

Bred by Gerry Harvey, Swiss Exile is the third foal of Swiss Francs (by Swiss Ace), a great-grand-daughter of dual Group 1 winner Skating whose accomplished progeny included Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Bradbury’s Luck (by Redoute’s Choice) and the dam of Champion 2YO Colt Vancouver.

Offered in the Baramul Stud draft at the Magic Millions Adelaide Sale, Swiss Exile was purchased for $95,000 by Neasham & Brian McGuire, and is the stable’s 8th stakeswinner since August 2020.

Pariah’s record also includes the winners Latvian (in Melbourne) & Nalabelle, stakes-placed filly Runaway Belle & debut city-placegetter Astelena. His second-crop yearlings have sold up to $280,000 and achieved a major sale average of $136,000, with Neasham & McGuire signing for three of them.

Pariah has 3 fillies and a colt on offer at the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale which begins on Thursday.
