Fruitful Spring for dominant dynasty

At the end of Australia’s 2018 Spring Carnival racing, Redoute’s Choice and his two best sons Snitzel & Not A Single Doubt are all among the country’s top dozen sires.
That’s no surprise, given they have ended three of the last four seasons in that stellar group, and Snitzel has claimed the 2017 and 2018 Premierships with all-time record stakeswinners and prizemoney.
Sixteen weeks into season 2018/19, the trio have accumulated 15 stakeswinners and earnings of $18.4 million – almost a third of the total prizemoney earned by Australia’s top 12 sires to date.
The performance of three-time Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice is especially notable because, although he can no longer match his younger rivals on runner numbers, he remains an unquenchable source of class. Only world champion and 4-time Cox Plate winner Winx tops the excitement surrounding Arrowfield graduate and future stallion The Autumn Sun, the 33rd Group 1 winner and already the best colt left by Redoute’s Choice.
The Autumn Sun’s exceptional Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas victories have made him an early favourite for whatever his owners Arrowfield & Hermitage Thoroughbreds and trainer Chris Waller decide to target during his next, eagerly awaited campaign in a part of the season he will surely relish, Autumn.
Two new stakeswinners in Perth, Super Maxi in August and Galaxy Star earlier this month, have extended Redoute’s Choice’s lifetime tally to 161, or 11.8% of all his runners.
No sooner are expectations for Snitzel raised than he exceeds them and he’s done it again this Spring by providing not only the winner of the $13 million The Everest, but also the runner-up.
Redzel (who won the ATC Concorde S. G3 as well) and Trapeze Artist anchored Snitzel’s Spring with Group winners Showtime, I Am Excited & Bella Rosa and Listed winners Sandbar & Diplomatico piling icing on the cake. Showtime & Diplomatico are both Arrowfield sale graduates.
Snitzel now holds a $5.2 million lead over Winx’s deceased champion sire Street Cry. That’s a considerably bigger margin than the $4 million which separated him from second-placed High Chaparral at the same stage last November.
As for Not A Single Doubt, he’s had his best-ever Spring in terms of stakes wins, with six winners aged two to seven, of 8 Group & Listed Races from 1000 to 2000 metres.
Those stakeswinners are Arrowfield graduate Kenedna (VRC Matriarch S. G2), dual Melbourne Group 3 winners Winter Bride & Cool Passion, 2YO colt Dubious (ATC Arrowfield Breeders’ Plate G3) and Listed winners Doubt Defying & From Within.
Redoute’s Choice (21 lots), Snitzel (46 lots) and Not A Single Doubt (30 lots) are all well-represented at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, and Arrowfield is proud to offer a total of 18 yearlings by this most powerful Australian stallion dynasty.
