61st stakeswinner for Not A Single Doubt

Back in 2009, after 4YO mare Sarthemare won her second race at Doomben for her new owners Howard & Judy Blight, Racing & Sports noted that “as a Listed winning daughter of Street Cry and being free of Danehill blood, Sarthemare shapes as a handy broodmare proposition.”

That prediction has been thoroughly fulfilled this year as Sarthemare’s second & third foals, both trained by Steven O’Dea for Aquis Farm, have gained stakes-winning status.

First out was 3YO colt Sesar (by Sebring), successful in Group 3 company in May and winner of the ATC Roman Consul S. G2 earlier this month.

Sarthemare’s 5YO son Doubt Defying by Not A Single Doubt joined him on Sunday when a resolute finish took him to victory in the $200,000 Sale Cup 1600m LR.

A $45,000 purchase from the Southern Cross Breeders draft at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, Doubt Defying has now won eight of his 17 starts and almost $400,000 prizemoney.

He is the 61st stakeswinner for Not A Single Doubt and his fourth this Spring, after 2YO Dubious and 4YO mares From Within and Winter Bride. That matches Not A Single Doubt’s performance in the first quarter of the past two seasons – an early indication that he will once again finish the season in the leading group of Australian sires.
