Arrowfield Stud and its Champion Sire Snitzel completed a leading vendor & stallion double at the record-breaking 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, which wound up its Book 1 catalogue this evening.

Arrowfield is the Leading Vendor by aggregate sales for the third consecutive year with $13,680,000 paid for 46 of forty-nine lots sold.

Snitzel headed the Sires’ table by average for the first time with 33 lots sold for an average price of $483,788.

Arrowfield’s top lot was Snitzel’s and the Sale’s top-priced filly, the much-admired sister to Group 1 winner Sweet Idea and Group 2 winner Showtime, all out of Flidais. She was purchased for $1.8 million by Reg Inglis, Paul Frampton & American owner Jon Kelly and will be trained by Gai Waterhouse.

The Stud also sold the $1 million Redoute’s Choice-Cat by the Tale colt, knocked down to James Moore Racing. That colt is the 75th million-dollar yearling by the three-time champion sire.

James Harron, who has enjoyed success with previous Arrowfield Magic Millions buys Sweet Idea & Dracarys, signed for the farm’s Snitzel colt from Madame Andree on the Sale’s opening day. The price was $900,000.

The top-priced son of Snitzel was the $1.6 million colt out of Admirelle and so a full brother to Group 1 winner and young sire Sizzling. That purchase was made by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, Aquis Farm, Yulong Investments and trainer Ciaron Maher.

Snitzel’s achieved his third seven-figure sale of the auction in tonight’s session when trainer Mark Newnham paid $1.1 million for the filly out of Intimate Moment. In all, Arrowfield and Snitzel accounted for five of the Sale’s top 10 lots.

Arrowfield concluded its Book One offering with the $575,000 Snitzel-Just Dancing filly, bought by Damon Gabbedy’s Belmont Bloodstock.
