Russian Revolution overthrows Rose & Slipper winners

The Redoute’s Choice & Sons tag team put Russian Revolution in the ring for Saturday’s $300,000 ATC Roman Consul S. 1200m G2 and he proceeded to knock out Golden Rose winner Astern & Golden Slipper winner Capitalist.

The 3YO son of Snitzel jumped best and rolled along easily in front. Tackled in the straight by both Group 1-winning colts, he responded with real zest to score by a neck from Astern, with a further 1.25 lengths back to his stablemate Capitalist.

Watch Russian Revolution win the ATC Roman Consul S. G2.

Russian Revolution’s four-start, four-win record also includes August’s MRC Vain S. G3 and he’s already returned the $320,000 paid for him by Michael Wallace & China Horse Club at the 2015 Inglis Easter Sale where he was offered by Vinery Stud.

He is raced by his breeder John Stuart Investments with China Horse Club, Newgate Farm, Matthew Sandblom & DW Wallace – most of whom are also celebrating Extreme Choice’s stunning Group 1 victory at Moonee Valley on Friday evening.

Trainers Peter & Paul Snowden are building a strong record with Snitzel’s progeny, having prepared Redzel & Detective for stakes success this term, and Hot Snitzel before his 2015 BTC Cup G1 victory.

Russian Revolution is the fourth foal and fourth winner out of Ballet D’Amour, who shares her descent from blue hen mare Fanfreluche with champion sires Flying Spur and Encosta de Lago. Ballet D’Amour has a yearling filly by Smart Missile.

Arrowfield’s own perfect record with sons of Redoute’s Choice – Snitzel, Not A Single Doubt & Beneteau – is set to be maintained by Group 1-performed colts Panzer Division & Scissor Kick, new to the Stud’s roster this season.

Snitzel, Not A Single Doubt & Redoute’s Choice have hardly missed a beat in the first two months of the 2016/17 season.  The Arrowfield triumvirate has posted 12 winners of 14 Australian Group & Listed Races since 1 August, and Snitzel heads the General Sires’ list with 39 winners and $1.9 million.

He doesn’t have to look far to see his closest rival: it’s Not A Single Doubt, with 36 winners and almost $1.7 million prizemoney.
