Zamzam wins Valley Pearl for Shadwell

Shadwell Stud’s splendid record with the progeny of Redoute’s Choice was extended on Friday evening when 2YO filly Zamzam won the $120,000 MVRC Valley Pearl 1200m LR.

It was a strong performance by Zamzam, three weeks after her Blue Diamond G1 third, because she had to chase hard on a Soft7 track to catch and overhaul Legless Veuve by a half-neck with Gloriette third, more than 3 lengths away.

Watch Zamzam win the MVRC Valley Pearl (St Albans S.) LR.

Zamzam is the third 2YO, following Honesty Prevails & Thyme For Roses, among her champion sire’s 11 worldwide stakeswinners this season, and his 32nd lifetime juvenile stakeswinner.  She also takes his lifetime tally of stakeswinners to 129.

Bred by S F Bloodstock, Zamzam was purchased for $920,000 by Shadwell from the Newgate Farm draft at the 2015 Inglis Easter Sale. Her dam Fleur De’Here (by Dehere) is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Tully Thunder, from the family of international Group 1 winners Roman Emperor (Australia), Glorious Days (Hong Kong) & Black Mamba (United States). Fleur De’Here has a weanling filly by Fastnet Rock and is in foal to Snitzel.

Shadwell, Sheikh Hamdan’s racing manager & buyer Angus Gold, and trainers David Hayes & Tom Dabernig have all made a significant contribution to the career of Redoute’s Choice. Other Shadwell stars include Group 1 winners Majmu and Nadeem, Group winners El Daana & Shaaheq and Group 1 performers Rawnaq & Reemah – all of them, except the Mike de Kock-trained Majmu, prepared by Lindsay Park Racing.

Seven fillies and 17 colts by Redoute’s Choice are catalogued for next month’s Inglis Easter Sale, including two fillies and six colts in the Arrowfield draft.
