Not A Single Doubt leads on 2YO winners

Six days out from the season’s end, two new winners have taken Not A Single Doubt to the head of the Australian 2YO Sires’ list, with 22 individual winners – only three short of his 14-year record set in 2013/14.

However, it remains a tight race. Snitzel has 21 winners and both he and Not A Single Doubt have debut juveniles accepted for races in the next few days. I Am Invincible is hot on their heels with 20 2YO winners.

Let’s Make It Rain struck first when he defeated Tatoosh (by Beneteau) over 1250 metres at Canterbury. Placed in two of his three previous starts, including Odyssey Moon’s Inglis Nursery (R) LR last December, Let’s Make It Rain also anchored his trainer Ron Quinton’s first metropolitan double

A $170,000 Quinton purchase from Broadwater Thoroughbreds at the 2014 Inglis Classic Yearling sale, Let’s Make It Rain is out of the unraced Red Ransom mare Red Alert, a half-sister to VATC One Thousand Guineas G1 winner Lady Of The Pines. He is among the dozen Not A Single Doubt 2YOs that have been successful in city class this season.

An hour later Ice Cream Lady won a 1000-metre maiden at Gilgandra for her owner-breeders Bruce Reid Racing & the Ferguson family of Bell River Thoroughbreds and trainer Brett Thompson. The sister to city winners Conroy’s Gap and Crown Choice took an early lead and strode home in good style to score by two lengths.
