Georges Rimaud, Manager of HH The Aga Khan’s Haras de Bonneval, home to Redoute’s Choice during the 2013 and 2014 northern hemisphere seasons, has inspected most of the champion sire’s first European crop.
He says, “I am very pleased with what I have seen, they are well developed with very good frames, good bone, lots of scope and generally correct with lots of presence. I think they are a very good representation of what their sire can produce.
“The two European crops by Redoute’s Choice offer a great opportunity to access Danehill’s blood close up in the pedigree. He will bring scope and speed to most European families and we have seen that specifically with the Aga Khan families. He is bringing exactly what we wanted. The frame and bone are there, and I am sure speed will show on the racecourse.”
Georges adds, “Redoute’s Choice is also turning out to be a fantastic broodmare sire, so his fillies should be very attractive to breeders looking to diversify their bloodlines.”
Henri Bozo is the Manager of the Ecurie des Monceaux, leading vendor at Arqana August Sale for the last three years. He says, “We have three yearlings and two foals by Redoute’s Choice, and all of them have great power with a lot of substance. We have an impressive yearling filly from a classic pedigree. It will be very interesting to see them run over here.”
The Monceaux filly is out of Astronomy Domine, a Galileo half-sister to Group 3 winner Pacifique, and to the dam of Irish Oaks G1 winner Chicquita, from the family of dual Oaks winner Alexandrova.
She is one of three Redoute’s Choice yearlings at Arqana out of mares by Galileo, whose sire Sadler’s Wells is second damsire of Redoute’s Choice’s champion daughter Miss Finland.
Lot 82, the filly from Katyusha and Lot 173, the colt from Thislillightofmine boast the Redoute’s Choice/Kingmambo combination responsible for dual Group 1 winner Gallica and English stakeswinner Elzaam, also fourth in the Royal Ascot Golden Jubilee S. G1. In all, mares by sons of Mr. Prospector have left 13 stakeswinners to Redoute’s Choice, among them Miss Finland and champion South African filly Majmu.
A pair of fillies from the Mezeray and Etreham consignments are bred on the Redoute’s Choice/Rainbow Quest cross, already seen in dual Group 2 winner and Cox Plate third Rekindled Interest.
The Arqana Sale, which last year averaged 147,864 Euros (~$217,000), with a top price of 1.2 million Euros (~$1.76 million), will be held from 15-17 August.
