Not A Single Doubt unveils Magic Millions contender

Darley’s champion sire Exceed and Excel has claimed the top spot on the Australian 2YO Sires’ after Ottoman’s superb win at Rosehill, but Arrowfield’s chasing trio of Redoute’s Choice sons, Beneteau, Not A Single Doubt & Snitzel, won’t let him rest easy.

Neither Beneteau, who retains his lead on the First Season Sires’ table, nor Snitzel had 2YO runners on Saturday, but Not A Single Doubt had two and one of them, Claudia Jean defeated Godolphin’s colt Bosnia by 3.5 lengths at Flemington. The filly’s stablemate Call Me Anything (Redoute’s Choice) kept up a strong gallop to hold third after leading early.

Not A Single Doubt has now had five juvenile winners this season, all sucessful on debut in Melbourne (Claudia Jean & Secret Agenda), Sydney (Single Gaze), Adelaide (Atalanta Miss) & Perth (Fremond).

While Ottoman is the new favourite for the 2015 Golden Slipper, Claudia Jean is likely to join Single Gaze & Secret Agenda on the Gold Coast for the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (R) LR on 10 January. She is now quoted at $9 by the TAB for that race, already won by a Not A Single Doubt filly, Karuta Queen in 2011.

Despite her comfortable jump-out win at Flemington earlier this month, Claudia Jean’s first raceday start attracted little interest from punters and she paid $8.50 for her victory, achieved in 57.68, with the last 600 metres run in 32.59.

Claudia Jean’s jockey Jye McNeil said, “She did everything very well and she gave me a terrific feel. She’s very push button and she had a bit left in the tank.

“She got a little bit fizzy but she’s a real professional and she’s definitely going places. I was worried she might get a bit lost in front, but she was fine.”

Claudia Jean’s win is one of five metropolitan victories in the past week for David Hayes & Tom Dabernig. Despite their difficult week evading bushfires at Euroa, Dabernig was able to quip, “I hate to make light of it, but we’re on fire.”

Bred by Parsons Creek Farm & Kate Gadsby, Claudia Jean is from Milzeel, a Group-placed daughter of Zabeel and top-class staying mare Miltak which suggests that 1200 metres won’t present her with any difficulty.

The filly was a $125,000 purchase by Lindsay Park Racing from the Riversdale draft at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.

Not A Single Doubt has 17 lots listed in the 2015 Magic Millions Sale, including two fillies and a colt in the Arrowfield draft which can be viewed here.
