Stakeswinner 116 for Redoute's Choice

Scissor Kick was the star of Saturday’s racing for reigning champion sire Redoute’s Choice, with a powerful victory in the $100,000 ATC The Rosebud LR at Randwick.

The 3YO colt’s trainer Paul Messara said, “It was a big effort today. He always gives us the impression he wants a bit further as he’s such a casual customer. He’ll go towards the Golden Rose and then maybe Melbourne for the Caulfield Guineas. That’s a race I’d love to get him to.”

Jockey Tye Angland said, “He is a very nice horse, he looks a picture and he does everything right. I keep thinking these races are going to be too short for him. He is one of those horses that you get a surprise when he goes to the races, which tends to happen with the good ones.”

Bred by Jonathan Munz’s GSA Bloodstock from Back Pass (by Quest For Fame), Scissor Kick was a $200,000 purchase from the Broadwater Thoroughbreds draft at the 2013 Inglis Easter Sale, and is raced by Arrowfield in partnership with Munz’s Pinecliff Racing.

Back Pass has already left stakeswinner Sharkbite to Redoute’s Choice, and is descended from Kerali, whose daughter Hasili has proved so spectacularly compatible with Danehill.

Scissor Kick is the 116th stakeswinner for Redoute’s Choice who signed off on his third Australian General Sires’ Premiership only nine days ago.

The champion sire was also represented on Saturday by Flemington winner Reckless Assassin, and appears as the damsire of Better Land (runner-up to Scissor Kick) and Messene (runner-up to Sweet Idea in the ATC Missile S. G2).

His sire sons and fellow residents Snitzel and Not A Single Doubt made valuable contributions to the dynasty’s excellent day at the office. Sweet Idea, new stakeswinner Smoko (WATC Belmont Newmarket LR), Headwater Country (at Eagle Farm) and Bouzy Rouge (at Randwick) won for Snitzel, and Couldn’t Agreemore scored for Not A Single Doubt at Flemington.
