Arrowfield-sired mares top Inglis Broodmare Sale

The two top-priced mares at this week’s Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale were both by Arrowfield stallions.

Champion sire Redoute’s Choice supplied the top-priced lot Dariana purchased for $800,000 by the Belmont Bloodstock Agency on behalf of leading Western Australian owner & breeder Bob Peters. Dariana is in foal to Street Cry.

Dariana (ex Beldarian by Last Tycoon) was bred by John & Deborah Camilleri’s Fairway Thoroughbreds and sold to DGR Thoroughbreds for $300,000 at the 2008 Inglis Easter Sale. She won three of her 13 starts from the Bart Cummings stable, including the 2010 Queensland Derby G1 and retired with earnings of more than $500,000.

Redoute’s Choice, sire of 24 Group 1 winners, including this season’s champion sprinter Lankan Rupee, stands at a 2014 fee of $110,000 inc. GST.

Starcraft’s daughter Crafty Irna (ex Zirna by Deputy Governor), in foal to Sebring, was knocked down for $610,000 to William Inglis as agent.

Bred by Westbury Stud, Crafty Irna was a $125,000 purchase from the 2009 New Zealand Premier Sale for a group of owners managed by the late David Lamond. Ron Quinton trained her to win the 2011 ATC Adrian Knox S. G3, 2012 City Tattersalls Club Cup LR and more than $460,000 prizemoney.

Crafty Irna is one of 14 stakeswinners by Starcraft who stands the 2014 season at a fee of $11,000 inc. GST.
