International Group double by Redoute's Choice fillies

Champion sire Redoute’s Choice today posted his fourth Group race double since 1 February when his daughters Tango’s Daughter & Majmu scored in Australia and South Africa.

3YO Tango’s Daughter continued the tremendous run of success this season for owner-breeder Teeley Assets when she prevailed in a straight-long duel with the tenacious 5YO mare Floria in the $175,000 SAJC Queen of the South S. 1600m G2 at Morphettville.

The Mick Price-trained daughter of Tango Fire (by Anabaa) won her first stakes race, the SAJC H.C. Nitschke S. LR, only two weeks ago, and has now won five of her 9 starts for prizemoney of more than $250,000. She was offered for sale by Arrowfield at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale but was passed in after failing to meet her reserve price of $180,000.

Tango Fire, in foal to Manhattan Rain, will be offered for sale as part of the Teeley Dispersal at the Magic Millions National Sale which begins on 25 May.

Sheikh Hamdan’s 2YO filly Majmu gave her rivals no chance to threaten her unbeaten status in the Turffontein South African Fillies Nursery 1160m G2. She simply streeted them by almost 9 lengths and has now won a Listed Race, a Group 3 event and a Group 2 race in her first three starts.

Arrowfield bred Majmu from the Chilean Group 1 winner Spontaneous (by Hussonet), and offered her at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Sale where she was purchased for $300,000 by Shadwell Australia.

As reported by South Africa’s Sporting Post, Sheikh Hamdan’s representative Angus Gold said that he had always felt that she was an Oaks filly when seen at the sales and that she was winning on class, as she would go further in time to come.

Later in the Turffontein programme, Banaadeer (More Than Ready-Provence by Redoute’s Choice) finished second in the South African Colts Nursery G2, and last year’s South African Derby G1 winner Wylie Hall (Redoute’s Choice-Beauty Belle) was fourth in the President’s Champions Challenge G1.

The other three Group race doubles (in fact, one was a treble) achieved by Redoute’s Choice’s progeny since 1 February are:
8 February – Lankan Rupee (MRC Rubiton S. G2) & A Time For Julia (MRC Geoffrey Bellmaine S. G3)
22 February – Lankan Rupee (MRC Oakleigh Plate G1), Bonaria (MRC Mannerism S. G3) & Lilliburlero (ATC Triscay S. G3)
8 March – Lankan Rupee (VRC Newmarket H. G1) & Bonaria (VRC Matron S. G3).

In all, runners by Redoute’s Choice have notched up a remarkable 12 Group wins and two Listed Race successes in Australia and South Africa over the past 12 weeks.

Already a two-time winner of the Australian General Sires’ title, Redoute’s Choice leads the current list, where his prizemoney has just topped $9 million. His nearest rival is his son Snitzel, who also enjoyed a Group race double today, with Hot Snitzel & Estonian Princess in Sydney.

Redoute’s Choice will stand the 2014 season at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST.
