Mill Park sells record-priced Starcraft filly

The Watson family of Mill Park Stud extended their outstanding record as vendors of yearlings by Starcraft when they sold his daughter from Dane Belltar for $650,000 on the final day of the Inglis Australian Easter Sale.

That figure is a new benchmark for Starcraft and was paid by David Redvers, acting on behalf of Qatar Bloodstock, who said, “I thought she was the best filly in the sale.”

The grey filly is the third six-figure sale that Mill Park has achieved with yearlings by Starcraft. The Stud also sold the stakeswinner Perfect Punch for $300,000 at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale, and a $320,000 filly by Victory Cry at the 2013 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.

The filly is a half-sister to last spring’s Caulfield Cup G1 winner Fawkner and Group 2 winner Tanby, from the VRC Oaks-placed Group 3 winner Dane Belltar (by Danewin).

Starcraft’s top-priced colt at the Easter Sale was Lot 255, the brother to Group-placed city winner Havana, from Top Cuban (by Anabaa). Offered by Arrowfield, he was purchased for $360,000 by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Three other colts made six figures and all ten of Starcraft’s Session 1 entries sold for the excellent average price of $170,500.
