Snitzel colt tops Inglis Classic Sale

A Snitzel colt offered by Wayne & Pauline Alchin’s Carramar Park has topped the two-day Inglis Sydney Classic Sale, which concluded this evening.

Purchased for $200,000 by McEvoy Mitchell Racing, the well-made colt is out of the 2YO stakes performer Sharp Hill (by Danehill), whose third dam is the wonderful Aga Khan mare Dumka, dam of classic winner Doyoun and four other Group & Listed stakeswinners.

Not A Single Doubt supplied the second highest-priced yearling, a colt from Red Alert, a Red Ransom half-sister to Group 1 winner Lady of the Pines. He was a $170,000 buy for trainer Ron Quinton from the draft of Broadwater Thoroughbreds.

Middlebrook Valley Lodge’s Not A Single Doubt filly from Foxy (by Canny Lad) topped the first day’s results, selling for $105,000 to Kitchwin Hills. From the family of Spring Champion S. G1 winner Doctor Doom, she was the second highest-priced filly of the sale.

Not A Single Doubt was the only sire represented by a filly and a colt among the 15 lots which sold for $100,000 or more.

Redoute’s Choice figured as the damsire of the most expensive filly, by Northern Meteor from Luscillas Choice, from the family of Australian Oaks G1 winner Royal Descent (also by Redoute’s Choice). She was sold by Broadwater Thoroughbreds for $130,000 to Laurel Oak Bloodstock.

All but one of the 15 lots offered by Arrowfield Stud sold, with the draft’s best price of $75,000 achieved by the Not A Single Doubt-Drifting Ice colt, whose flashy looks are reminiscent of Not A Single Doubt’s high-class daughters Miracles of Life and Karuta Queen.

The Sale posted an average price of just over $35,000, an increase of 4% on last year’s figure. Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said, “This sale is really making a name for itself as the place to offer strong athletic types regardless of pedigree. Our bloodstock team focus on identifying those types and buyers have swarmed to snap them up here in Sydney.”
