A good week for the Americans
It’s a good week to have American sporting connections.
In San Francisco Oracle Team USA, skippered by Australian James Spithill, has drawn level with Emirates Team New Zealand in an extraordinary America’s Cup showdown.
In Australia, Arrowfield’s first season sire All American opened the week with his first trial winner, the filly Datable who scored by a length at the Randwick 2YO Trials.
Trained by Kris Lees, Datable is from First Date, a Flying Spur half-sister to leading young sire Not A Single Doubt. The filly was a $40,000 purchase from the Bellerive Stud draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.
Another graduate of the same draft at the same sale provided a second piece of good news for All American on Tuesday evening. His son out of Lodore Falls (by Redoute’s Choice) sold for $155,000 at the opening session of the Magic Millions Horse in Training Sale. That was the second-highest price of the session.
The near-black colt, a $65,000 buy in January, was offered yesterday by Wayne Pepper’s Bellagio Lodge, and bought by Queensland owner Evan Hartley.
All American, who also has 2YOs in the stables of Gai Waterhouse, David Hayes, Hawkes Racing, Gerald Ryan, Tony McEvoy & Paul Messara, stands at a fee of $16,500 inc. GST.
