Juicy Flemington win for Strawberry Boy

Strawberry Boy could hardly have put up a better performance in his first time out from the Peter Moody stable than his quality win at Flemington today.

The resolute manner of his victory was impressive enough, but his time of 1.21.85 for the $80,000 1400-metre event indicated that John Singleton‘s home-bred son of Redoute’s Choice is ready to build on the Group 3 placings he achieved over longer distances in Sydney last spring.

Moody Racing’s stable manager Jeff O’Connor said, “”He didn?t do himself any favours early, he was just a bit too fresh with the blinkers on, so he?ll improve with that.

“”With the fresh run out of the way we might see a more relaxed horse next time and he?ll be a better horse.?

A Brisbane campaign remains on the cards for the 4YO son of Strawberry Girl, already dam of three stakeswinners including Group 2 winner Danroad.

Strawberry Boy has now won five of his 8 starts and more than $200,000 and is a fine chance to join the 19 stakeswinners already posted by Redoute’s Choice around the world this season.

Redoute’s Choice stands at a fee of $137,500 inc. GST in 2013.
