Grand Group 1 day for Arrowfield graduates

Arrowfield graduates Aliyana Tilde and Grand Daughter added valuable Group 1 placings to their records with staunch efforts in Sydney and Adelaide this afternoon.

4YO mare Aliyana Tilde (Snitzel-Patronella by Mister C), twice Group 1-placed at three and a Group 3 winner two starts ago, showed plenty of grit to run third to Mourayan and Norsqui in the $500,000 ATC Sydney Cup 3200m G1. That takes her prizemoney beyond $360,000 – a handsome return on the $50,000 paid for her by trainer and part-owner Kerry Parker at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale where she was offered by Arrowfield Stud.

Patronella has been a grand broodmare with 9 winners from 12 runners to date, including Group 3 winner Smytzer’s Trish (dam of SW Swish Trish) and dual stakeswinner Stella Artois (dam of G2 Freestyle), as well as Aliyana Tilde. Patronella’s 2011 colt by All American was a $30,000 Magic Millions weanling purchase from Bellerive Stud last year, and the mare is due to foal to Beneteau in the spring.

Aliyana Tilde is one of 5 Group 1 performers by Snitzel, alongside Sizzling, Snitzerland, Hot Snitzel & Sweet Idea.

Grand Daughter (Redoute’s Choice-Sunday Valentine by Sunday Silence) prefaced her second placing in today’s $400,000 SAJC Australasian Oaks 2000m G1 with wins at Sale and Moonee Valley, then an unplaced run in last month’s MVRC Alexandra S. LR where she was unbalanced by a heavy bump at the start.

A full sister to Group 2 winner El Daana, and half-sister to the good Hong Kong performer Familists, Grand Daughter was bred by Arrowfield, John Leaver & Alan Jones, and bought by trainer Peter Moody for $350,000 from the Arrowfield draft at the 2011 Inglis Easter Sale. She races for Eric Koundouris in the royal blue and white colours worn to double Group 1 success by Star Witness.

Grand Daughter is one of 22 (20.5%) Group & Listed stakes performers that have already emerged from the 107 named foals in the 2009 crop of her champion sire Redoute’s Choice, available to Australasian breeders this spring at a fee of $137,500 inc. GST.

A 10% share remains on offer in Grand Daughter’s yearling brother, bought two weeks ago by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock and Blue Sky Bloodstock at the 2013 Inglis Easter Sale. Contact Julian Blaxland for more information.
