102nd stakeswinner for Redoute's Choice

Redoute’s Choice’s 102nd stakeswinner certainly caught punters by surprise when winning today’s $100,000 ATC Darby Munro S. 1200m LR at Rosehill, but Chiaramonte‘s $46 dividend belied both his good overall form and his top-drawer pedigree.

The 3YO colt was driven forward from a wide draw by jockey Josh Parr and set a strong pace in front, but had enough in reserve to hold off Brave Soul by a half-neck with Heart Testa a half-length away in third place.

Trained by Peter Snowden for Sheikh Mohammed, Chiaramonte began racing last August and has now won five of his nine starts and a touch over $195,000.

He is the fourth stakeswinner from the outstanding broodmare Chiara (by Last Tycoon), after Group winners Chinchilla Rose, Ferocity and Leone Chiara (all by Lion Hunter). Leone Chiara is also the dam of dual Group 1 winner Star Witness (by Starcraft).

Last Tycoon mares have an excellent strike rate with Redoute’s Choice, a combination that has produced 10 stakeswinners from 40 named foals, among them Group 1 winners Dariana and Master of Design. Chiaramonte is one of nine 3YOs among his champion sire’s 16 stakeswinners this season.

Thirty-four yearlings by Redoute’s Choice will be offered at the Inglis Australian Easter Sale, including six consigned by Arrowfield, and a colt in the Bellerive draft – view them here .
