Record Melbourne prices for Snitzel & Not A Single Doubt

As champion sire Redoute’s Choice enters a new phase of his career, standing his first northern hemisphere season in France, his sire sons continue to make headlines in Australia.

Not A Single Doubt capped an outstanding fortnight at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale on Tuesday by posting his best-ever sale price of $300,000, paid for the colt from Euchre (by Final Card).

Bred on the same cross as the brilliant Karuta Queen, the colt was offered by Fairhill Farm and purchased by New Zealand trainer Tony Pike who prepared 2YO gelding Doubtless to win by 5 lengths on debut earlier this season, before his sale to Hong Kong.

Fairhill Farm’s Mike O’Donnell says, “”What most impressed me about the colt was his professionalism. In 110 parades over three days he never put a foot wrong.””

The Euchre colt was among nine yearlings by Not A Single Doubt sold during the three days of the Sale’s first session for an average price of $135,000 – more than 10 times his 2010 fee of $12,500 + GST.

Not A Single Doubt posted his first Group 1 winner, Miracles of Life, on 23 February, and last Saturday added three new stakeswinners (Isabella Snowflake, Petty Cury & My Ex Mate) to his record.

Snitzel ‘s final figures for the session were very similar: eight lots sold at an average of $136,875, and his top price was also $300,000, paid by Spicer Thoroughbreds for Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm‘s filly from Acceleration. That’s the highest price achieved by a Snitzel yearling at the Melbourne Sale since his first crop went through the ring in 2009.

Lauriston Farm also received $300,000 for the Redoute’s Choice-Glimmers colt, a half-brother to dual Group 1 winner Gold Edition.

Snitzel, whose five stakeswinners this season include last weekend’s Silver Slipper G2 heroine Sweet Idea, is currently 4th on the Australian 2YO Sires’ list, two places behind Not A Single Doubt, and one place ahead of their barn-mate Charge Forward, sire of juvenile stakeswinners Assail, Crack A Roadie & Direct Charge.

All three stallions are represented in the catalogue for next month’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Snitzel with 20 lots, Charge Forward with eight and Not A Single Doubt with a colt in the Corumbene Stud draft, and a filly to be offered by Vinery Stud.
