…and Dad matches it!

Not A Single Doubt’s champion sire Redoute’s Choice took less than 90 minutes to reply with a Melbourne-Sydney double of his own, courtesy of Sheikh Mohammed‘s 3YO filly Seaside and the Gerry Harvey-bred 5YO gelding Cantonese.

Seaside (from the Group 3 winner Living Spirit, by Hennessy) overcame a rocky start to post her second win from six starts when successful over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley.

Described afterwards as a “nice filly with a lovely pedigree” by Darley Australia’s Managing Director Henry Plumptre, Seaside may now be aimed at a Brisbane stakes campaign next winter.

Cantonese has produced outstanding form this spring for trainer a purple patch of form for a new ownership group, trainer Bjorn Baker & apprentice jockey Jenny Duggan.

Yesterday’s strong win over 2000 metres at Rosehill was the fifth success from his last six starts and took his prizemoney for the season beyond $160,000.

Baker told the Sydney Morning Herald‘s Chris Roots, “He has exceeded any expectations I have had with him. He just keeps coming out and winning. We will see how he pulls up and decide if we go again or give him a spell.”

From the Group-1 placed winner Kylikwong (by Red Ransom), Cantonese is the year-older brother of Chateau Margaux, also enjoying an excellent spring, with two wins and two Group placings, most recently as runner-up to Gatewood in the 2400-metre Geelong Cup G3. Kylikwong produced a brother to the pair earlier this month.

Redoute’s Choice has a quality draft of 13 lots catalogued for the 2013 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, including three colts and a filly in the Arrowfield Stud consignment.
