Redoute's Choice 3YOs justify Hayes stable confidence
Those who viewed David Hayes’ latest Weekly Wrap on his website, www.lindsaypark.com.au and heeded his suggestion to put a $50 place bet on two of his 3YO runners at Flemington today are now more than $1000 richer.
Their trainer’s firm confidence in both horses proved spot on. The filly Maraatib finished second to Zydeco in the $300,000 VRC Wakeful S. 2000m G2, and three races later the colt Rawnaq staged a tremendous finish to nab third place behind Fiveandahalfstar and Super Cool in the $1.5 million VRC Victoria Derby 2500m G1.
Both horses are from the 2009 crop of Redoute’s Choice and each was purchased for $700,000 by Shadwell Stud from the 2011 Inglis Easter Sale. Maraatib was offered by her breeders Ron & Deb Gilbert of Highgrove Stud, and Willow Park presented Rawnaq on behalf of his breeders, Michelle & the late Philip Esplin.
Maraatib (ex Valadon by Woodman) is bred on the same cross as champion filly Miss Finland, while Rawnaq (ex Winning Belle by Zabeel) represents a pattern that has now produced 14 stakes performers, including champion filly Samantha Miss.
Redoute’s Choice’s tally of worldwide stakes performers in 2012/13 stands at nineteen, and nine of them are 3YOs.
