Redoute's Choice 2YO sails to easy win

Sheikh Mohammed‘s homebred filly Seaside became the latest 2YO winner by champion sire Redoute’s Choice when she sailed home by 4.5 lengths at Canterbury today. Brilliant Snitzel (by Snitzel ), who broke her maiden at Seaside’s expense last month, completed the quinella.

Seaside’s dam the 2YO Group 3 winner Living Spirit is descended from the imported Swettenham Stud mare River Dane, herself a dual Group winner in Europe and half-sister to Robert Sangster’s Australian Group 1 winner Pure of Heart.

River Dane’s daughters, the stakeswinner Idol Worship, Rossignol and Sisterhood have done fine work at stud, leaving a stakeswinner each, and several stakes-producing daughters. Recent stars from the family include Group-1-winning 2YO Choice Bro and Melbourne stakeswinner Immortality.

Seaside is the 5th winner from only 6 named foals by Redoute’s Choice out of mares by sons of champion US sire Storm Cat, a group headed by Australian Oaks G1 winner Absolutely.

Redoute’s Choice stands at a 2012 fee of $137,500 inc. GST.
