2YO Redoute's Choice colt wins on debut

2YO colt Rawnaq made it four impressive winners by Redoute’s Choice in three days with a handsome debut defeat of older horses over 1200 metres at Wagga this afternoon.

It was a performance particularly appreciated by Arrowfield, because Rawnaq was bred by former Arrowfield director the late Philip Esplin, from the Group 2-winning Zabeel mare Winning Belle.

Offered by Willow Park at the 2011 Inglis Easter Sale, Rawnaq was purchased for $700,000 by Shadwell Stud and is trained by David Hayes. Rawnaq is a brother to Group 1-placed winner Light Brigade and his win followed this week’s successes by another 2YO son of Redoute’s Choice, Sheer Talent, and the fillies 2YO Honorine and 3YO Aliberani.

2YO Redoute’s Choice colt Sergeant At Arms, also from a Zabeel mare, this time the outstanding Group 1 winner Champagne, narrowly missed giving Redoute’s Choice a juvenile double today when he finished a short half-head second on debut at Geelong.

With a lifetime SW/runners strike rate of better than 11%, Redoute’s Choice stands at a 2012 fee of $137,500 inc. GST.
