Star Snitzel colt Sizzling scored easily in today’s $250,000 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes 1400m G2 at Eagle Farm. He’s the second son of Snitzel to win the race, following Hot Snitzel‘s victory last year.

Sizzling produced his customary big finish to defeat Academus and fellow Snitzel colt Dances on Stars in a repeat result of last month’s BRC Champagne Classic G2 at Doomben.

Bred by John & Trish Muir’s Milburn Creek Stud from the General Nediym mare Admirelle, Sizzling had won the Ken Russell Memorial Classic LR at the Gold Coast before the Champagne Stakes. He will now start a short-priced favourite in the T.J. Smith S. G1 at Eagle Farm next Saturday.

His trainer Kelso Wood said, “I know how he can finish off and I knew he was the best horse in the race. He’s so relaxed -nothing worries him. He’s a beautiful horse and he will win the T.J. Smith by further.”

Sizzling was purchased for a group of owners including David & Diane Devine, Mick Power & Nev Morgan and AFL legend Leigh Matthews by leading bloodstock agent John Foote for $260,000 at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale.

The bay colt has now won four of his seven starts and more than $470,000. His only unplaced run in seven outings was an eye-catching fourth to Driefontein in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Snitzel is rounding off a tremendous season in scorching fashion: has just overtaken Stratum on the 3rd Season Sires’ list and is second on the 2YO Sires’ table. He stands at $33,000 inc. GST in 2012.
