2YO Redoute's Choice filly impressive on debut

Waipukurau in New Zealand on a Friday is a long way from a major meeting, but star Kiwi jockey James McDonald on a royally-bred, trial-winning 2YO filly was enough to attract strong betting support for Pure Elegance today.

Peter & Phillip Vela‘s home-bred daughter of Redoute’s Choice and Our Echezeaux (by Zabeel) faced only three opponents in the 1200m juvenile maiden, but she could hardly have been more impressive, romping away to win by 5.5 lengths.

Pure Elegance is the latest winner from one of New Zealand’s prime female families. Her dam is a winning sister of G1 winner Grand Echezeaux, dam of New Zealand champion and now Group One sire Darci Brahma (by Danehill) and this season’s dual-stakeswinning colt Burgundy, also by Redoute’s Choice.

Travel a little further down the pedigree page, and up come the names of multiple Group winner Romanee Conti, her champion daughter Ethereal and the fine Group 2-winning racemare Bellini Rose.

Then there is the well-recognised affinity between Redoute’s Choice and mares by sons of Sir Tristram, a nick responsible for 12 stakeswinners, including Group 1 winners Samantha Miss, Melito and Allez Wonder, from 109 named foals.

Redoute’s Choice has now had four 2Yo winners this season and the omens are encouraging for Pure Elegance because the other three – stakeswinner Mama’s Choice, Group 1-placed No Looking Back and stakes-placed Shelford – have already earned black type. Even more encouraging is Redoute’s Choice’s outstanding record as a sire of 26 juvenile stakeswinners, seven of them at Group 1 level.

Redoute’s Choice’s 43 yearlings in the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale are from some of the very best mares in the Australian & New Zealand Stud Books. Arrowfield is proud to be offering six of them, here.
