Snitzel dominates 2YO ANZ Form ratings

Snitzel’s brilliant first-crop daughter Chance Bye has turned out to be a highly accurate indicator of her sire’s exuberant talent for producing natural 2YO runners.

Two seasons later Snitzel has five 2YOs – more than any other stallion – rated 104 or better on the latest ANZ Form ratings published in today’s ANZ Bloodstock News .

Three of them are prepared by Snitzel’s own trainer Gerald Ryan, including the colt Amorino (ex Steal My Love by Marauding) who heads the ratings with a figure of 111 – up from his previous 108 rating. Selected from the Arrowfield draft at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, Amorino has won both his starts in Sydney, and has already returned $124,000 on his $70,000 purchase price. He is currently the second-favourite for the 2012 Magic Millions 2YO Classic on 14 January, paying $5.00 to win.

Also from the Ryan stable are the fillies Snitzerland (ex Monte Rosa by Fraar), stakes-placed at Flemington on debut & rated 106; and Flying Snitzel (ex Hula Flight by Hula Town), whose debut win and subsequent placing in Sydney has earned her a 105 rating. Both fillies are also Arrowfield graduates, sold from the Bellerive draft at the 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

The Kelso Wood-trained Snitzel colt Sizzling (ex Admirelle by General Nediym) has been rated 107 following his easy debut victory at Eagle Farm, and two subsequent black-type placings. He is now the $3.50 Magic Millions co-favourite, alongside Driefontein.

A fourth Arrowfield graduate, Blazing Snitzel (ex Trois Couleurs by Carnegie), completes Snitzel’s latest quintet of 2YO stars. She was a $260,000 Gai Waterhouse buy from Arrowfield’s 2011 Magic Millions draft and ran home well for second to stablemate No Looking Back (by Redoute’s Choice ) at Warwick Farm on 19 November. That effort has earned Blazing Snitzel a rating of 104. Her half-sister by Charge Forward appears in the 2012 Arrowfield draft at the 2012 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale which begins next Wednesday.

Five other 2YOs by Arrowfield stallions have also achieved ANZ Form ratings: Don’t Blink (105p) & No Looking Back (105P) by Redoute’s Choice; Princeton Miss (104) & So Sure (104) by Not A Single Doubt ; and Sell In May (104) by Starcraft .

With three winners and $304,100 prizemoney, Snitzel is now chasing only Choisir on the Australian 2YO Sires’ table, with Snippetson, More Than Ready and Fastnet Rock behind him. As usual, the distribution of the $2 million Magic Millions prizemoney is awaited with interest!
