Starcraft filly heads Karaka Million Order of Entry

It took less than 58 seconds at Flemington on Saturday for Starcraft’s 2YO daughter Sell in May to put herself at the head of the entry order for the 2012 Karaka Million.

The $A42,700 she collected for her first raceday appearance was enough to earn that position before several black type 2YO races are held in New Zealand.

Sell in May’s trainer John Sadler was not surprised by the filly’s performance, and indicated that a trip to New Zealand is an option.

“It’s a possibility, she’s going out for a fortnight’s break or just short of that and there is a chance she will go to New Zealand,” Sadler said.

“It’ll be either that or the Blue Diamond Preview. But we would try and measure up how the form looked for the Karaka Million as to whether it was worthwhile.”

The MRC Blue Diamond Preview LR is held on 26 January, while the Karaka Million (R) LR will be run on 29 January at Ellerslie in Auckland.

The 2011 Karaka Million was won by Fort Lincoln, a son of Charge Forward .

Sell in May was bought by the Balmerino Racing Partnership for $100,000 from the Highview Stud draft at this year’s New Zealand Premier Sale. Starcraft is represented by five lots at Karaka in 2012, three in the Premier catalogue, and two in the Select Sale.

Buyers who can’t wait that long are advised to visit the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale (17 lots by Starcraft – eight of them right here ) or the Inglis Classic Sale (5 yearlings by Starcraft).
