Snitzel filly flies on debut

Almost exactly a year after Hot Snitzel won his debut at Rosehill by 2.5 lengths, the combination of Gerald Ryan and Triple Crown Syndications has unveiled another gifted 2YO by Snitzel , this time a filly named Flying Snitzel.

Winner of her two trials, Flying Snitzel (ex Hula Flight by Hula Town) started favourite in the first race on the twilight card at Canterbury and lived up to her billing with a 3.3 length victory.

Hot Snitzel scored by 2.5 lengths at his first raceday start at Rosehill on 11 December 2010. He went on to Group 2 success and a Group 1 placing at two, and resumed this season with a courageous win in the ATC Arrowfield Brian Crowley S. LR on 15 October. So far the return on his $60,000 purchase price is more than $500,000.

Gerald Ryan said, “She’s a nice filly who just keeps improving. I’ll see how she pulls up after today’s race but I might look at a race for her at Rosehill on Boxing Day.”

Like Hot Snitzel, Flying Snitzel is a Bellerive Stud graduate of the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale, where Triple Crown principals Chris & Michael Ward bought her for $25,000.

She is Snitzel’s third debut 2YO winner this season after her stablemate Amorino and the Queensland colt Sizzling.

Their performances have put Snitzel in second position on the early-season Australian 2YO Sires’ list.

His position on the General list was boosted by four other performances today: wins by St Beune (Canterbury) and Weekend Special (Moonee Valley), and placings by Tigress Lily & Snitza at the same courses.

There are 13 catalogued opportunities to purchase a Snitzel yearling at the 2012 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, three of them in the Arrowfield draft. .
