Sizzling debut by Snitzel colt

Arrowfield’s leading young sire Snitzel unveiled yet another talented 2YO this afternoon when Sizzling rocketed home in his debut over 1000 metres at Eagle Farm.

A firm favourite for the race, the bay colt won in class record time of 57.43 seconds and made it look easy, winning by six lengths from Dansonate and Anikintime.

He is a son of Admirelle (by General Nediym), a stakes-placed winner at two and daughter of stakeswinner Laudemio, herself a daughter of the good producer Estate Label. Admirelle produced a filly to Flying Spur this spring and has been served by Snitzel.

Bred by John & Trish Muir’s Milburn Creek Thoroughbred Stud, Sizzling was a $260,000 purchase from the Evergreen Stud draft at this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale. The buyer was well-known agent John Foote for a group of owners including David and Diane Devine, also the owner-breeders of the fine racemare Zero Rock.

Sizzling is the second juvenile winner from Snitzel’s third crop this season, following Arrowfield Magic Millions sale graduate Amorino, who won handsomely on debut at Randwick last month. Snitzel’s 2YO daughter Snitzerland also made a big impression at her first start, when second to Applegate in the VRC Ottawa S. LR at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.
