New generation joins Arrowfield board

The Arrowfield Group, holding company of the leading Australian-owned thoroughbred breeding and racing operation, Arrowfield Stud, has announced the appointment of two new directors to its Board.

They are Arrowfield’s chief financial officer, Martin Story, and Michael Messara, son of Arrowfield Stud founder John Messara AM.

John Messara says, “These new directors, who share my commitment to the future of Arrowfield and the Australian thoroughbred industry, bring the next generation into play at board level. I look forward to their fresh input and support.”

Michael Messara, 30, is a director of specialist investment firm Caledonia, with portfolio management responsibilities for the Caledonia Australia, Small Caps & Private Investment Trusts. He has ten years’ experience researching Australian and International equities with a particular emphasis on the materials, health care, media and gaming sectors. Michael is also a director of Graysonline.com, one of Australia’s largest online retail and auction companies. Michael graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and has a passion for, and excellent knowledge of horse racing.

Martin Story, 52, a chartered accountant, brings a remarkable continuity to Arrowfield’s board, as the company’s chief financial officer since the Stud’s foundation more than 25 years ago. He has been part of the team which has completed the many successful acquisitions, stallion syndications and international partnerships for which Arrowfield is renowned.
