78th stakeswinner for Redoute's Choice

War Ends lived up to the name of his dam, Good News, and delivered exactly that for his owners & breeders today when he held on to win the $80,000 Murray Bridge Gold Cup 1600m LR.

It was good news too for his champion sire Redoute’s Choice, now the sire of 78 stakeswinners – 10.9% of his lifetime runners. War Ends is the 12th stakeswinner from the 2006 crop of Arrowfield’s champion sire and his 5th Australian stakeswinner this season, after King’s Rose, Rekindled Interest, Sister Madly & Master Of Design.

It was the fifth win for War Ends, who was bred by Bob & Rosemary Scarborough’s Wood Nook Farm, and sold for $400,000 from the Amarina Farm draft at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Sale. Trained by Mark Kavanagh, he is raced by Bob Scarborough in partnership with Ron Sayers, J P Wood, F W Howes, V R Young, G H Denniston, G J Holden & G J Diamond.

Good News (by Don’t Forget Me), a half-sister to brilliant New Zealand sprinter and fine broodmare Alynda, has also produced Victoria Derby G1 winner Hit The Roof and G3-placed winner Gliding Light from her eight named foals. This is the family of Group 1 winners Turffontein & Penny Gem, and Fast ‘n’ Famous, a Group 3 winner by Redoute’s Choice.
