To Miss Finland, a filly

Australia’s former champion 2YO and champion 3YO filly Miss Finland safely foaled a bay filly by Street Cry at Arrowfield Stud this morning.

Attended by the Stud’s veterinarian, Dr Wendy Perriam, the now eight-year-old daughter of Redoute’s Choice and Forest Pearl delivered her third foal at 6.15 am. Described as a big foal with a good body and bone, and an attractive head, the filly has a white blaze and a white sock on her near hind leg.

Miss Finland’s first foal, a 2YO filly by Hussonet, has been retained by her breeders John Messara, John Leaver & Alan Jones, and is currently in training with Paul Messara; her second foal is a yearling colt, also by Hussonet.

Miss Finland’s eleven wins in a $4.6 million, three-season career included victories in five Group 1 races: the STC Golden Slipper, VRC Oaks, VRC Australian Guineas, MRC One Thousand Guineas and STC Storm Queen Stakes. She also posted seven Group 1 placings, and was fourth in El Segundo’s 2007 Cox Plate.
