Altius aims high after second city win

Champion sire Redoute’s Choice maintained his early season momentum with four winners around Australia today, including a Rosehill double by Altius and The Warrior Woman for last season’s champion Sydney trainer Chris Waller.

Altius (ex Circles of Gold by Marscay) made it two-in-a-row when he scored handsomely over 1500 metres, taking his record to four wins from nine starts. Afterwards, Waller indicated that he’s thinking of the Group 1 Epsom Handicap in October as a possible target for the 4YO entire.

Earlier on the same programme, 5YO mare The Warrior Woman (ex Mulan Princess by Kaapstad) posted her fifth win from the Waller stable.

Like Redoute’s Choice, trainer Paul Messara has made a quick start to the 2011/12 season, and they combined successfully today when Lemieux (ex French Cut by Snippets) won at the Gold Coast – his third consecutive win. That concluded a particularly good week for his part-owner Jonathan Munz, also the breeder and co-owner of Wednesday’s impressive debut winner Rekindled Alliance.

Redoute’s Choice’s tally of winners for the first 13 days of the Australian season now stands at 15, with total prizemoney already north of $300,000. The two-time champion sire of 76 stakeswinners stands the 2011 season at a fee of $137,500 inc. GST.
