Hot Snitzel sizzles in stakes win

Arrowfield’s exciting young sire Snitzel posted his fourth individual stakeswinner today when his talented 2YO son Hot Snitzel won the $100,000 GCTC Ken Russell Memorial Classic 1200m LR in Queensland.

He also joins the long list of stakeswinners sold at auction by Arrowfield, which bred him in partnership with Jungle Pocket Pty Ltd.

Jockey Nash Rawiller drove the gelding out of the gates before he settled just behind the leader. He strode forward on the turn and cruised under a hold until the 200-metre mark when kicked clear to win by 6.5 lengths in most impressive fashion.

Hot Snitzel (ex Flames of Paris by Blushing Groom) has proved to be a shrewd purchase by Chris & Michael Ward’s Triple Crown Syndications which paid $60,000 for him from the Bellerive Stud draft at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. Today’s victory took the gelding’s record to two wins, two Group 3 placings and $174,900 prizemoney from six starts for his owners Triple Crown, R. Martin, A.L. Kelaher, G. Woodman, S.V. Nolan, J.I. Karaca, J.J. Kennedy & Mrs R.H. Kennedy.

Trainer Gerald Ryan, who has had terrifc success with Snitzel’s progeny this season, was very pleased with what he saw.

“I was hopeful this trip to Queensland would be the making of Hot Snitzel and if that race is anything to go by, it has been. He was classes and classes above them today,” he said.

Snitzel has also been represented this season by Group 2-winning 2YO Salade, SW 3YO Zelsnitz, Group-placed Top Drop and Chance Bye, and stakes-placed trio Hollyweird, Schiffer and Yorkshire Lad. He is currently second on the Australian 2nd Season Sires’ list, between Stratum and Starcraft.

Snitzel’s 2011 service fee is $27,500 inc. GST.
