Brilliant day for Arrowfield's champion sires

Arrowfield’s champion sires Redoute’s Choice and

Flying Spur claimed four black type victories on a sparkling day of racing in Melbourne, Sydney and New Zealand.

At Randwick, Redoute’s Choice’s classy 4YO daughter Sister Madly (ex Jade Tiara by Bureaucracy) could not have been more convincing in the ATC Southern Cross S. 1200m G3, winning by 1.75 lengths in a time of 1.33.58. Bred and raced in partnership by Ian Smith of Edinburgh Park Stud, Sister Madly is a half-sister to world champion sprinter Silent Witness, and was twice Group One-placed at three. She becomes the 70th individual stakeswinner by Redoute’s Choice, and his eighth this season.

Outstanding 3YO King’s Rose (Redoute’s Choice-Nureyev’s Girl by Nureyev) now has an unassailable lead in the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year series after winning today’s Waikato RC Sir Tristram Fillies Classic 2000m G2. Raced by her breeder Dr Gene Tsoi, King’s Rose has won five consecutive Group & Listed Stakes races in New Zealand this season, most notably the CJC NZ 1000 Guineas G1 in November.

Redoute’s Choice’s tally of stakes wins this season stands at 13, eight in Australia and five in New Zealand.

Flying Spur claimed the honour of siring the first winner and first stakeswinner at Randwick under the auspices of the Australian Turf Club when 2YO filly Satin Shoes (ex Star Satire by Volksraad; bred by Classic Thoroughbreds Ltd) put up a quality effort to win the ATC Widden S. 1100m LR. A chance to become Flying Spur’s second Golden Slipper winner (after Forensics, 2007) beckons for Satin Shoes, who is trained by Clarry Conners for Dr Edmund & Mrs Bateman.

At Caulfield, 3YO filly Miss Gai Flyer (Flying Spur-Power of One by Gilded Time; bred by Torryburn Stud) scored impressively in the MRC Kevin Hayes S. 1200m LR and fulfilled the promise she showed as a Group-placed winner last season for owner Gary Pfeiler of Sunlands Produce Pty Ltd.

Satin Shoes and Miss Gai Flyer are the 78th and 79th individual stakeswinners by Flying Spur, and take his season tally of stakeswinners to four.

Sister Madly (passed in, 2008), Miss Gai Flyer (sold by Torryburn Stud/purchased by Belmont Bloodstock Agency, $250,000, 2009) and Satin Shoes (Cressfield/De Burgh Equine, $700,000, 2010) are all graduates of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Check out the Arrowfield drafts for the upcoming 2011 Inglis Yearling Sales in Melbourne & Sydney , which include nine yearlings by Flying Spur and 19 by Redoute’s Choice.
