Arrowfield sires dominate Magic Millions finishes

It’s been a stunning day for Arrowfield Stud with Not A Single Doubt , Snitzel & Danzero supplying four of the top six finishers in the two feature races on BMW Magic Millions day at the Gold Coast.

Pictured: One of several visits Karuta Queen’s owners Glenn & Viive Williams made after winning today’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic was to the Arrowfield sale marquee, where they posed with the trophy & Not A Single Doubt.

Not A Single Doubt’s dashing daughter Karuta Queen (ex Card Queen by Final Card) justified her favouritism in the $2 million GCTC BMW Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YO Classic 1200m (R) LR with an exuberant, all-the-way win, ahead of Combat Kitty and Snitzel’s gallant daughter Schiffer (ex Modave by Montjeu).

That result has put Not A Single Doubt back on top of the Australian 2YO Sires’ list with prizemoney of $1,517,300, and taken his tally of stakeswinners to four, as Karuta Queen joins Group 3 winners Squamosa, Doubtful Jack & Always Certain. General Nediym is second on the 2YO Sires’ table ahead of Snitzel in third position with $524,100.

Bred and offered for sale by Stuart Ramsey’s Turangga Stud, Karuta Queen was purchased for $30,000 by her enthusiastic Sydney owners Glenn & Viive Williams at the 2010 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Schiffer was bred by Arrowfield in partnership with Katsumi Yoshida & family of Japan’s famous Shadai Farm and purchased by trainer Gerald Ryan for $240,000 from the Arrowfield draft at the same sale.

In the $1 million GCTC Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas over 1400 metres Startsmeup (Danzero-Bluevien by Bluebird) and Top Drop (Snitzel-Fine Red by Red Ransom; bred by Peter Horwitz) chased home the winner Torio’s Quest.

Startsmeup was offered at the 2009 Magic Millions Sale under the Bellerive Stud banner but failed to meet his reserve and has now won $274,000 for his owner-breeder Glenn Heran.

Top Drop was a $110,000 purchase from the Vinery Stud draft by owners Scott & Mrs H Cameron, Wayne Harrison, Norm & Carolyn Pinder, A M & Mrs K L Pinder, D N Pinder & the Bradley Racing Syndicate.
