Charge Forward filly makes dazzling debut

Already the sire of four Group winners from his first two crops, Charge Forward unveiled dazzling fresh talent with his 7th winner of the new season, Tassa Avanti (ex Gerber by Palace Music).

The 3YO filly won her debut over 1000 metres at Geelong last Thursday by more than three lengths, earning this mention in Racing & Sports’ Around the Trap column:

Highly promising youngster from the Danny O’Brien yard that debuted when heavily supported on the Geelong Synthetic surface and didnt let supporters down when an effortless winner. Has a very bright future and can figure in some top races with natural improvement.

Tassa Avanti was bred by Ken Turner’s Alma Vale Bloodstock, also responsible for G1 winner Star Witness, by Starcraft , and was passed in at the 2009 Magic Millions Sale. A half-sister to Melbourne stakeswinner La Chasseuse, who was trained by O’Brien to win seven races Listed Stakes events at Caulfield and Flemington. Their second dam is the stakes-winning Vionnet, who has done a marvellous job at stud, leaving four stakeswinners among them Vionneto, by Danzero .

Another 3YO by Charge Forward, Peter Horwitz’s gelding From the Vault finished strongly for fourth in Saturday’s $120,000 STC Heritage S. LR, after losing ground at the start; and his classy daughters 4YO Response and 3YO Solar Charged have each added two Group placings to their records this season.

Charge Forward, who ran second in a vintage Golden Slipper G1 and won the AJC Galaxy H. G1 at three, stands the 2010 season at a fee of $33,000 (inc. GST).
