Redoute's Sir Tristram Cross Yields Another Stakeswinner

Bid Spotter confirmed his status as one of the country’s most progressive stayers with a barnstorming win in the listed City Tattersalls Club Cup (2400m) at Randwick on Saturday.

A member of the Graeme Rogerson stable, Bid Spotter steamed home from the tail of the field to get up and win by a half length in a most impressive performance.

The win was the first at black type level for the blue blooded son of Redoute’s Choice.

Winning rider Ryan Wiggins said he couldn’t have been happier with how his mount went during the race – his only concern was finding a run in the straight to unleash his power finish.

“The horse relaxed nicely and he travelled well,” Wiggins reported. “Halfway down the straight I just thought I would sit and wait and then when I let him down, he really let down!”

Bid Spotter was so named from his time in the spotlight at the 2007 Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast.

He was sold to the bid of celebrity spotter, Hollywood actress Tara Reid at the Magic Millions complex for $850,000.

He’s shown good ability throughout his career to date after placing as a two-year-old in the Breeders Plate and has since won five of his 17 starts.

Bid Spotter is one of five winners from the former outstanding Sir Tristram race filly Isolda.

Isolda won two races as a two-year-old including the Group One AJC Champagne Stakes at Randwick. She also placed in a AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes, QTC Sires’ Produce Stakes, Castlemaine Stakes and AJC Oaks – all at Group One level.

Bid Spotter is the sixth individual stakes-winner for Arrowfield based champion sire Redoute’s Choice this season.
