Honest Truth Bolts In For Hussonet

The two day Newcastle Cup program has started well for owners Patinack Farm with the much anticipated debut of boom three year-old Honest Truth going according to script.

Recently transferred to John Thompson, Honest Truth never gave his many backers a moment’s cause for concern leading throughout and kicking away in the straight to win the 900 metre maiden by close to six lengths.

A barrier trial winner at Warwick Farm on August 28 by 11 ½ lengths, the ability of Honest Truth has been no secret, but you still like to see them do it on a race day and he’s done that now with a myriad of options open to the gelded son of Arrowfield based Hussonet (USA)

Honest Truth was purchased for $240,000 by Anthony Cummings on behalf of Patinack Farm at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Robyn Wise.

Consigned to Easter Part Two, Honest Truth is he fourth foal of Straight Lake (USA), a US winning half-sister to Group Three winner Moonflute and also to the dam of Group One Tattersall’s Winter Stakes winner Absolut Glam.

Honest Truth is bay in colour like Hussonet’s finest Australian product so far in Weekend Hussler and while he has a way to go live up to that lofty standard, he certainly has the ability that would suggest a Black Type assignment will be well within his range.
